Student Organization of the Year
This award recognizes a UC Merced registered club or organization that has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the advancement of the university.
(Note: If needed, this award will be broken into two categories, department supported RCOs and independent RCOs. Department supported clubs are those whose advisor has official job responsibilities that include advising the organization)
To apply, all applicants must be in good judicial standing with the university.
Please answer all categories in 250 words or fewer. Nominations with answers of more than 250 words will not be considered.
Note: Finalists will be invited to interview for this award
- Explain why the organization deserves to be recognized with this award;
- Describe the organization's contributions to the Merced community during the 2016-2017 academic year;
- Describe the organization's contributions to the campus community during the 2016-2017 academic year;
- Explain how this organization works to develop its members;

Alignment with RCO Mission (4 possible points): Organization activities demonstrate alignment with the established mission of the organization.
Impact of On Campus Involvement (4 possible points): Application demonstrates and sites examples of the RCO's significant and/or long lasting impact on the campus.
Impact of Community Involvement (4 possible points): Application demonstrates and sites examples of the RCO's significant and/or long lasting impact on the community outside of UC Merced.
Development of Members (4 possible points): Application demonstrates and sites examples of the RCO's dedication to the development of members. Examples: Hosted UC Merced Collaborative event with OSL, Career Services, Fiat Lux, etc. Helped members pursue greater opportunities for research and employment. Sent members to leadership development programs.
