Bobcat Ignite Program

Spring 2025 Registration will open January 24th! 

Bobcat IGNITE Program (BIP) is great for students currently holding cabinet positions in a registered club/organization; fratnerity/sorority; or student staff leadership position. This program is designed to support current student leaders, understand their roles and further develop their leadership skills to bring these resources, knowledge, and skills they learn back to their clubs/organizations. BIP consists of six (6) 2-hour sessions.

BIP will have one cohort for Spring 2025, capped at 24 students!

BIP Spring 2025 Cohort will take place on Fridays 11am - 12:30pm on these dates: February 7th, February 14th, February 21st, February 28th, March 7th, & March 14th!

Attend all 6 sessions to receive a certificate of completion.

Workshop 1: Introduction to Leadership: How RCOs Impact Student Retention & Sense of Belonging

Workshop 2: Team Dynamics: Working with a team

Workshop 3: Event Planning 101

Workshop 4: Finances & Budgeting

Workshop 5: Overcoming Challenges: Conflict Resolution, Delegation, & Accountability

Workshop 6: Leadership in Action: Mentorship & Coalition Building 

 

What will I do in this program?

In this program, you will learn the importance of your role as a student leader and how your work contributes to student rention and sense of belonging. 

Particpants will engage in self-reflection exercises and dialgue with other student leaders to share resources, experiences, and build networks of support. 

Participants will learn what it means to work in a team and learn different approaches to team dynamics. 

Participants will understand how to plan and organize events using a limited budget. 

Participants will learn how to manage and operate budgets for their RCOs. 

Participants will learn strategies for dealing with conflict resolution, delegation, and member accountability.

Participants will learn how to communicate with students, campus partners, and university stakeholders to build coalitions and networks of support. 

Participats will understand the importance of mentoship and servant leadership to empower and inspire new students to become leaders.

What should I expect?

The Spring 2025 workshops will be facilitated by Stephany Barrera, Assistant Director of the Margo F. Souza Student Leadership Center and student staff Daniel Guel.

This is a pilot program! We encourage participants to give us feedback, let us know how we can be better, and curriculum is subject to change at any time!

We like to create a friendly, welcoming environment. So, get comfortable, try your best to be on time, and bring your authentic selves. We know this is easier said than done, but we ask that you try your best.
