The Merced County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (MCHCC) Bobcat Leadership Seminar consists of 4 virtual sessions created to develop an individual's leadership capacity. Bobcat Leadership Seminar will help participants define their leadership skills and style, explore their strengths as a leader, identify strategies to develop confidence and share leadership opportunities within Merced. Session are held via Zoom.

June 16th 5:30pm - 6:30pm: Workshop 2: Leadership Skills & Leadership Styles (Identify your Strengths: We all have strengths!)
June 23rd 12pm - 1pm: Workshop 3: Believe in Your Leadership Journey: Strategies for Confidence & Resilience
June 30th 5:30pm - 6:30pm: Workshop 4: Explore Leadership Opportunities to Continue to Grow as a Leader
What you will learn in this program:
In this program, you will explore your identity and your potential leadership style(s).
You will reflect on the following questions: "What type of leader do I want to become? How do I want to engage in leadership?"
You will identify the specific Leadership Skills & Leadership Styles that are your strengths & the leadership skills you will work to improve while at UC Merced.
You will identify specific strategies that you will use to increase your Confidence & your Resilience (ability to overcome challenges).
You will learn the wide range of leadership opportunities available to you in the Merced community.
You will create a personalized Leadership Action Plan for the next steps in your leadership journey. During each workshop, we dedicate a bit of time for you to fill out your action plan. You will finish the action plan during Workshop 4. Once you complete workshop 4, you will have earned a Certificate of Completion for the Bobcat Leadership Seminar.

This program is open to all MCHCC community organizations and their members. If you are not already a member, contact us to find out how to become a member organization!

No. There is no cost to register for this program.
Who is facilitating this program?
This June 2021 Bobcat Leadership Seminar is a collaboration between The Margo F. Souza Student Leadership Center at UC Merced and the Merced County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (MCHCC). The sessions will be facilitated by Jess Évora, Associate Director of the Margo F. Souza Student Leadership Center. The session will also be facilitated by Karla Seijas, a native of Merced, a community leader & a PhD student at UC Merced. The MCHCC leadership team will also be present to support the sessions.
What are the expectations of participants?
You may register for just one session or all of four session. Feel free to register for the session(s) of your choice. All sessions are held via Zoom.
We appreciate participants arriving on time, ready to engage and stay with us the full hour. There are no assignments or homework for this program. Everything is done within the 4 sessions.
We like to create a friendly, welcoming environment. So, get comfortable, feel free to log onto Zoom through your laptop or phone.
