When is the deadline to nominate yourself or others for a Student Leadership Award?
The deadline for all nominations is Friday, March 7th, 2025 at 5PM.
What does the Student Leadership Award Nomination Application consist of?
Each application asks for the following information: contact information of nominator, contact information of nominee, 3-5 questions regarding nominee's leadership experience, and upload at least 1 supporting document that demonstrates nominee's leadership experience. The short response questions require a 250 word minimum; the Student Leadership Awards is competitve so we encourage nominators to write strong detailed responses and use specific examples when speaking on the nominee's behalf. I started my Student Leadership Awards application, but I forgot to hit save or submit. Do I have to start all over?
We encourage nominators to review our Leadership Awards Nomination Applications Questions & Guidelines prior to submitting your nominations. Accessing this document will allow you to review application questions prior to starting your application online. All nomination applications use Qualtrics to upload submissions; therefore, we encourage nominators to write your applications on a separate document and once you're ready to submit visit return to our website to turn in your submissions online.
Who selects the recipients of the 2025 Student Leadership Awards?
The Margo F. Souza Student Leadership Center has assmebled a committee of student affairs professionals and student representatives across various departments at UC Merced. The review commitee is responsible for reviewing, scoring, and evaluating each nomination based on established criteria specific to each award, ensuring a fair and thorough review process. After careful consideration and scoring, the committee will select the 2025 Student Leadership Award Recipients.
Can I nominate myself for a Student Leadership Award?
Yes! We are currently accepting self-nominations for the following awards: Distinguished Leadership Award, Legacy Award, Emerging Leader Award, and the College Corps Fellow Award.
Can I nominate a friend for a Student Leadership Award?
Yes! You can nominate a friend, classmate, peer, or students for the following awards: Distinguished Leadership Award, Carol Tomlinson-Keasey Award, Legacy Award, Steven & Mia Kang Leadership for Social Change Award, Marfo F. Souza Trailblazer Award, Emerging Leader Award, and the College Corps Fellow Award.
When will winners be notified?
Once the review committee has made their selections, we will notify recipients no later than Friday, April 4th, 2025.
