First and foremost, we have our Fall cohort of Bobcat Leadership Seminar coming up. Bobcat Leadership Seminar is a four-week program comprised of workshops focusing on the culmination of identities and leadership of students’ journey through UC Merced and beyond.
Bobcat Leadership Seminar Student Reflection:
“My name is Kinza Tauseef and I am currently a third year here at UC Merced. I joined Bobcat Leadership Seminar (BLS) in the summer of 2020. In this four-week program, I was able to explore my identity and build my confidence as a leader while interacting with other students on a virtual platform. I remember participating in a fun activity where we could determine our working styles as a leader. I learned that I have two main work styles which include “analytical” and “action.” These two styles match my personality quite well because I am a meticulous and efficient leader. BLS allowed me to discover these working styles so that I am able to become a much more effective leader. Being a part of BLS allowed me to feel connected to my campus community while being on summer break. I enjoyed my time with my fellow peers as well as the BLS directors! Thank you!” (Kinza Tauseef)
EMPOWER: Womxn’s Leader Development Program | Thursdays 12:30 –1:20 [Sept.30 -Nov.4]

Next, we have EMPOWER: Womxn’s Leader Development Program, which will be starting at the end of September. EMPOWER is a 6-week leader development program for UC Merced Students who identify as womxn. Participants will learn the challenges and successful strategies of womxn leaders, as well as how they can advocate for themselves and others as leaders.
EMPOWER Student Reflection:
“The Empower program was a pivotal point in my career and mindset. It helped me realize that there are different types of leadership and each one has its strengths to which we can play up. At the end of the seminar, we all collaborated and created action plans for ourselves. With the aid of Jessica and the other women, I was able to realize that the pattern set by the leader will be reflected on the quality of work produced and the effectiveness of the team. This shift in mindset was empowering and motivates inner growth, definitely reflected in my academic and professional career. I have only improved for the better and maximized the potential I had. This seminar helped give me the push I needed and alongside create a beautiful network of strong confident women. I would highly recommend to every woman, as this highlighted the importance of women in the workforce, especially those not afraid to take charge and be the change we need in our industries. This seminar helped provide the tools and confidence I needed and now I am much better for it.” (Kimberly Gonzalez)
