Souza Leadership Center Plans In-Person Programming for Fall 2021

August 9, 2021

UC Merced takes action to ensure campus safety as we near Fall 2021 semester.

Having been a mainly empty campus with virtual instruction for a year and a half, the UC Merced community, including us at the Souza Center are excited to go back to campus for the start of in-person instruction for the Fall Semester.

Like many other Universities throughout the United States and abroad, UC Merced switched to virtual instruction during March of 2020, and has been operating as such throughout the Spring 2021 Semester. This was done in accordance with CDC guidelines, to ensure the safety of the students, staff, and the Merced community. While virtual instruction was a large change for students and staff, everyone adapted and did their best in an unprecedented situation.

The Margo F. Souza Center is excited to announce that we will be going back to in-person programming beginning the Fall 2021 semester. What does this mean for students? This means that all our programs and events; including Bobcat Leadership Seminar, EMPOWER (womxn’s leader development), and BOLD: Black Students Organizing for Leadership & Development; will be in-person! We prioritize the safety and well-being of our campus and Merced community. Thus, we will be taking all the necessary precautions and following all guidelines.

We are eager to see all of the amazing staff and students in-person once again!
